Time to clean your teak
It’s that time of year again
The weather is turning nice and finally, the first warm evening of the year is in the forecast. You invite friends over for dinner to eat outside. As you are setting your teak table, you realize that winter took its toll on your furniture. The teak has turned gray-greenish, and stuff is growing on it. Don’t worry, teak is easy to clean… o.k., maybe not within the next hour to be ready for your guests but ease nonetheless.
BEAUTIFUL TEAK FURNITURE, PROPERLY MAINTAINED, CAN BE ENJOYED FOR MANY SEASONS TO COME
There is an assortment of teak cleaning products on the market that will clean, seal and brighten your teak furniture. All do their thing, and you may use all or none. I have mine pressure-washed at the beginning of every outdoor season. The gray comes off easily and the teak returns to that nice golden color. After pressure washing, I take fine-grade sandpaper and do a light sanding over the entire piece to soften the teak to the touch. If your teak furniture is covered and it still looks almost new, then I suggest using a teak cleaner to bring it back to its new state. Quality teak furniture, properly maintained, will look great and last for many generations.
