Furnish the holiday home

Set up your holiday apartment: This is how you design your retreat

A vacation rental is great. It doesn’t matter whether you want to use it for yourself or for holiday guests – everyone should feel comfortable here. To ensure that the feel-good factor is as high as possible, you should pay particular attention to the furnishings. Beautiful furniture, friendly colors and a family-friendly design are a good basis for you and your guests to relax on vacation. After all, you also want your guests to come back next year.

Furnish the holiday home

Decide on a furnishing style

Rustic country house style, modern, clean look or maritime coziness? When setting up your holiday home, you should follow a certain concept. It is nice if you choose the furnishing style to match the environment. A maritime look, for example, suits an apartment on the North Sea or the Baltic Sea. A holiday home in southern Germany, Switzerland or Austria harmonizes well with a rural style with lots of wooden furniture. Just try it out and be inspired by nature and the environment!

Set up a holiday home for the target group

If you use the holiday apartment mainly as your own accommodation on holiday, you know what you need. However, if you want to rent out the apartment, you should know exactly who your target group is and what they need. Families with children need special furniture such as a cot, high chair and maybe a sandpit in the garden. A washing machine and dryer are also suitable for this. Holidaymakers with couples, on the other hand, may prefer a beautifully furnished outdoor area with matching garden furniture, where they can relax and end the evening. For dog owners, a kennel and a garden fence are useful.

Invest in quality and durable furniture

In order for your holiday guests to feel comfortable, it is important to use good, high-quality furniture. Contemporary, simple furnishing is a good choice. This can also be combined with many colors. Also, make sure that the pieces of furniture are durable and hard-wearing. You definitely don’t want to change the bed, the living area or the dining table after each season.

Hard-wearing floors and walls

Suitcase rolls, dirty children’s shoes or mud from the last mudflat hike – the floor in a holiday apartment sometimes has to endure a lot. It should therefore be hard-wearing and easy to care for. Tile and laminate are good choices because they are quick to clean. Dust and crumbs can quickly settle in carpets. If you still don’t want to do without a rug, you can place a runner or a round rug under the dining or coffee table. Colored models with patterns are beautiful. Crumbs are not so easy to see on it.

What applies to the floor covering also applies to the walls. Light colors are friendly and inviting, but they also get dirty quickly. Therefore, use washable latex paint or washable wallpaper. Stains can be removed quickly and easily here.

Think of a fully equipped kitchen

The kitchen should be fully equipped so that your guests can get started right away and hobby cooks are happy. This means plates, cutlery, pots, pans and cups should be available in sufficient numbers. Likewise, some cleaning utensils should not be missing. Wipers, vacuum cleaners and brooms are not typical holiday utensils, but they are a must if your guests want to clean the holiday apartment.

Create lots of storage space and storage space

When you set up your holiday apartment, make sure you have enough storage space and shelves. After all, your guests want to feel comfortable and not live out of a suitcase. Families with children in particular often bring a lot with them from home. Large wardrobes, sideboards and pantries are therefore useful. In the bathroom, too, you should think of cupboards and shelves for bath and make-up utensils.

Use decoration sparingly

When furnishing holiday apartments, less is more! Therefore, do without too many decorative elements and prefer a classic design. On the one hand, too much decoration makes the apartment look restless. On the other hand, the decoration must also be kept clean. Set small accents with pretty pictures, artificial flowers or decorative candles. Textiles such as cushions, curtains or bedspreads can also be used to make the holiday home pretty.

Arrive and feel good!

Vacation time is relaxation time! This also applies to a break in a holiday apartment. Here you want to arrive, feel good and enjoy the days off. With the tips you will definitely succeed. Rely on a clear furnishing style with high-quality furniture and ensure a relaxed and restful atmosphere. So let yourself be inspired!
